Synopsis/Blurb:

He was convinced he’d be a bachelor for life.  And then he met the girl of his dreams.

Jordan Reeves has fully embraced the carefree, uncomplicated bachelor life, figuring that the poor example he’d been provided by his parents of so-called marital bliss was reason enough to remain single.  He’s more than content to date one woman after another and never even consider settling down, especially since the only female who’s ever seriously caught his attention belongs to another man.

But during a vacation in Hawaii, Jordan unexpectedly meets a woman who could very easily change his mind about the joys of bachelorhood.  Aubrey Larson is young, gorgeous, fun-loving, and has a wicked sense of humor to match his own.  She’s also a dead ringer for the woman Jordan’s had an admitted crush on for the past few years, enough to be mistaken for her twin.

Aubrey recognizes the handsome Doctor Reeves as a player of epic proportions the first time they meet, but even her usual disdain for that type of male can’t diminish the overwhelming attraction she feels for him.  But as their relationship deepens, Aubrey has no idea that becoming involved with Jordan will lead to a startling discovery about her own past, and cause her to question his true feelings for her.

Reviews

This was a good, fun and light romantic story, it did contain a few twists but giving those away isn’t something that is gonna happen. I did get a little confused with the POV in this story seems to switch between dual to third person but I sort of got over that and began to enjoy the book.

This books isn’t all bells and whistles. There are no shocks to be fair. It’s just a really nice story that I would recommend to anyone that enjoys a good safe love story.

It’s always exciting to pick up a novel by a new author, will this be an exciting new discovery? Will I be disappointed? Will I enjoy the story and look forward to the next one? I love this journey and adventure.

Doctor Jordan Reeves is an obstetrician/ gynaecologist who has lived a carefree bachelor life, only smitten by one Tessa, who is out of bounds as she is a happily married woman with a family. One vacation in Hawaii he meets Aubrey Larson who could almost be Tessa’s double and there is definite chemistry.

Told in the third person, which to be honest is refreshing as it’s not that common nowadays, as well as from the two lead characters points of view however it does get a little confusing at times but seems to smooth out quickly enough. The story unfolds at quite a fast pace and it is very easy to read. A little predictable perhaps but a sweet romance with some passionate intimacy.

The lead characters are so much fun together, I particularly enjoyed the way Aubrey is her normal self around Jordan. The passion between them is lava hot too, so are the descriptions of their intimate scenes! 🌋 The sassy mouthed Aubrey fires off some great replies to Jordan and certainly knows how to hold her own, even though he is fourteen years her senior.

To answer my questions in my introduction yes I certainly do want to read more by this author, no I wasn’t disappointed and yes I look forward to reading about Finn and Max in their books!

Genre: Romantic Suspense/Ménage
Release Date: May 21, 2018

A.C.H.E.

A is for Ache
C is for Choice.
H is for His.
E is for Everly.

I’ve always gotten the short end of the stick when it comes to my personal
life. Drug-addicted mother, obsessive stepfather, shitty upbringing, and one
soul-shattering, heart-wrenching relationship.

But everything changed when I met Alec Prescott. I couldn’t stand the cocky,
hotshot lawyer at first, but after assisting him on one case, my opinion
changed drastically. He became the beginning I so desperately needed, even if
romantic relationships at work are completely forbidden.

Unfortunately, falling in love with a coworker is the least of my problems.
Funny thing about the past, it’s never truly far away. No matter how fast you
run from it, or how hard you try to suppress it, it’s there, lingering like a
fog, blinding your vision, impacting your decisions, affecting your life.

That’s where Tage Andrews comes in. He’s the heartache I can never outrun. The
man who saved me from my past while pillaging my emotions. I want to avoid
reliving it—avoid him—but he’s always there, lingering like a fog, blinding my
vision, impacting my decisions, affecting my life.

This is my paradoxical predicament.
Two men.
One choice.
Inevitable heartbreak.

Review
I really enjoyed this book but there was so much left unsaid. The book was loaded with so much action that I wish was more spread out and more detailed throughout. The book was a really easy going read until 60% and then the story seemed to explore and gain momentum.

The menage side of the book was ok but I truly didn’t think it was necessary and could have been left out with Tage being her friend and protector. But I did really like Alec and found his character really good. Although the insight into the characters was again very vague, leaving a lot of things hanging in the balance.

I hope this book isn’t the last and that we get to see what happens after as I have loads of things that need to be finished off. I do recommend this book but I feel that the reader would be left with question like I have been. Or maybe they will love it, for what it is.

“What are you doing now that your team is out of the running for the Stanley Cup?”

Forget.

I need to forget. I need an escape.

Only one person isn’t falling for my reputation as the NHL’s Golden Boy; she captured my attention the minute she called me out for snooping through my best friend’s house. She didn’t want to hear my reason–she only wanted to playfully give me a hard time.

Adalyn is bold, sassy–and the perfect escape.

She’s everywhere. In town and in my dreams, and suddenly I need to spend every waking moment with her.

And I do, making this summer the best off-season I’ve ever had.

But in the midst of getting lost in Adalyn, what I don’t expect is to get her pregnant.

And what I definitely don’t expect is having to fight for her affection.

REVIEW

What a great book, I absolutely love this book and series.  It was a quirky concept and a brilliant storyline that has me gripped to see the outcome for all involved in the first book. This book concentrated on Hayden and how he finds his happy.

I really didn’t see this book evolving exactly how it did. I got more than a little teary on more than one occasion and fell head over hills in love with Hayden. Adelyn was a fantastic character and completely perfect for Hayden. Although at points through this book I wanted to shake her.

This wasn’t an easy romance but what they say is nothing good ever comes easy. This book had everything you ever wanted in a romance book and I can say I enjoyed every single word. This book is a huge recommend from me. A must read series.

EXCERPT

“Would you mind zipping up the back of my dress?” She walks toward me, her flowery scent floating in my direction, spiking my yearning into overdrive.

“Uh, yeah . . . sure.”

She turns around and looks over her shoulder. The back of her dress is completely open, the zipper was undone to just above the curve of her beautifully round ass.

Shit, all that smooth, tan skin, covered by nothing but the velvety fabric of the dress. Is she wearing underwear? She’s not wearing a bra and I see no panty line.

Clearing my throat, I ask, “Are you wearing underwear, Adalyn?”

From over her shoulder, she smiles shyly. “Yes, it’s small though.”

Of course, it is. Why wouldn’t it be?

Not being able to stop myself, I take a second to float my fingertips up her spine. From the initial touch, her back arches and a small gasp releases from her lips, but before I can think about stopping, she melts into my touch. Stepping closer, I place my hand on the back of her hip, my thumb pressing into her ass while the other hand explores the bare expanse of her back. Her head falls to my shoulder. Her lips part, and when I snake to the front of her dress, her breath hitches.

Eyes closed, I take in ragged breaths, my fingers inching closer and closer to her front, my cock painfully hard.

It’s been so goddamn long—and being with Adalyn has only spurred on my need—but I want to make sure we’re in a good place before we commit to anything. I want to make sure she’s ready emotionally because the minute I bury myself deep inside her, I know there will be no turning back. She will be mine forever.

But maybe, for now, I can just have a little touch . . .

My cock pressed against her butt, she expertly grinds her backside into me, her hands moving to my neck, pulling my head down to hers. I kiss the side of her neck, using the hand that’s gripping her hips to guide her with her grinding in just the right place.

Fuck, that feels good.

I grunt, the sound vibrating over her sleek neck. My hand on her stomach, she arches wanting more of my touch, silently asking me to move north.

And I fucking comply. Inch by slow inch, I guide my hand to just below her breasts. When I halt my pursuit, a displeased groan escapes her.

“Hayden, please.”

I squeeze my eyes shut, trying to find the willpower. Her fingernails dig into my scalp, spurring me on as she turns her head and finds my lips.

She kisses me.

Hot.

Wet.

Needy.

Her lips gliding across mine, her tongue diving into my mouth, her moans are vocal and sexy. Her delicious ass, pressing, grinding, undulating against my rock-hard cock makes me want to do so much more, makes me want to taste so much more.

Moving my hand higher, my fingertips graze the bottom of her breast. Soft. Round. Smooth. I caress her right below her nipple, never touching, just teasing . . . tempting.

Robyn’s Review of Declan by Erin Trejo

Declan

I was born into this world. I am what it made me. I do things that others find disgusting. I broke many rules when I met Brooke. She showed up one night and I took advantage of that. When she kept coming back, I knew there was more to her. One fucking day changed it all. One secret from my past blew our relationship out of the water.

Brooke

Loss was all I knew. It creeps around every corner. One dare. That’s all it took. The night I met Declan, I was on the high of my life. I felt safe with him. Little did I know; his secrets were also mine. When his past is revealed, I lose it. The man he claimed to be was a man I’d known all my life.

It’s always an exciting time when a new series starts and this one certainly starts with a bang!

While still very young, Brooke and Angel have left orphans when their sheriff father is killed. The person who is responsible is a fifteen-year-old prospect with the Soulless Bastards MC called Declan but there is a lot more to this story. The story continues years later…

Declan is the Vice President of the Soulless Bastards MC, he lives and breathes for his club where rules were made to be adhered to rigidly. His first impression of Brooke as a young woman is one that surprises him a bit but then she goes on to do this on a regular basis. They have a definite chemistry together and the fireworks between them certainly ignite however there is more intensity to their feelings.

Lurking behind in the background is something you can feel about to explode into action, the tension building up and the mystery is very intriguing and makes you sit on the edge of your seat. As with all MC clubs, the brotherhood is strong and these characters all grow on you as you read along.

This is a fast-paced book and extremely easy to read, after the last couple of books I have read it is like a breath of fresh air! I look forward to reading about Mayhem in the next book.

I write about things that are real life situations and fairy tales are not always smooth sailing. My MC books are hard and gritty and they have struggles just like you would in life.

I also have books that are not so in your face. There are several that are good love stories that are fraught with issues that the characters have to deal with.

Bane, the highly-anticipated next standalone in the Sinners of Saint Series by L.J. Shen is LIVE

Bane

Naked surfer. Habitual pothead. A con, a liar, a thief and a fraud.

Last I heard, he was extorting the rich and screwing their wives for a living.

Which is why I’m more than a little surprised to find him at my threshold, looking for my friendship, my services, and most puzzling of all—looking humbled.

Thing is, I’m on a boycott. Literally—I cut boys from my life. Permanently.

Problem is, Bane is not a boy, he is all man, and I’m falling, crashing, drowning in his sweet, perfect lies.

Jesse Carter

Hot as hell, cold as ice.

I wasn’t aware of her existence until a fat, juicy deal landed in my lap.

She’s a part of it, a little plaything to kill some time.

She is collateral, a means to an end, and a side-bonus for striking a deal with her oil tycoon stepdad.

More than anything, Jesse Carter is a tough nut to crack.

Little does she know, I have the f****** teeth for it.

Reviews

Bane, what can I say… he’s an arrogant, selfish, manwhore but everyone loves a bad boy!! Jesse Carter, as broken as she is even Jesse can’t resist Bane’s charm! This book was a triumph in so much as it dealt with a lot of sensitive subjects in a very real way… Jesse Carter was the town pariah after a horrible incident with the upper-class boys at her high school, her family life was less than desirable and her only friends were a frail older lady and her lab Shadow. Bane comes into her life and turns her world upside down! A good read, a great follow on from the hot holes series…

Reviewed by Nat

Where do I begin with the review, its taken me a few days to mull it all over in my head? I needed to get things straight to not be swayed or influenced by others. To stick to my feelings and not get swept up in the hype. I enjoyed this book don’t get me wrong, but I was expecting so much more. I may have been spoilt in the past by LJ Shen and her ability to sweep me off my feet and blow me away.

Right now to start to explain. I really can’t be fair. I loved Bane, his character and what he was to Jesse. I get that he had the swagger, he was indeed a loveable rogue and although he protected Jesse like a man possessed which I find so beautiful, he just didn’t make me get the feels. And So like Bane I refuse to apologise.

The strongest and most upstanding character in this book is indeed Jesse. She was a warrior and God did she have so much to deal with. She is the kind of character that makes you look at things with different eyes and for me, she made this book. Now them together was perfect in a lot of ways. How he helped her to fix herself by handing her exactly what she needed. As the book went on Jesse opened up and the banter and relationship grew from there.

I do recommend this book, it provoked a ton of different emotions. I laughed and I got teary. So, all in all, it was a great read but for me. I just wanted more.

Bane

Then.

A liar.

A con.

A godless thief.

My reputation was a big wave that I rode, one that swallowed everyone around me, drowning every attempt to fuck with what’s mine.

I’d been known as a stoner, but power was my real drug of choice. Money meant nothing. It was tangible, and therefore easy to lose. See, to me, people were a game. One I’d always known how to win.

Move the rooks around.

Change the queen when necessary.

Guard the king at all fucking times.

I was never distracted, never deterred, and never jealous.

So, imagine my surprise when I found myself being all three at once.

It was a siren with coal black hair who robbed me of riding the biggest wave I’d seen that summer. Of my precious attention. Of my goddamn breath.

She glided from the ocean to the beach like nightfall.

I crouched down, straddling my surfboard, gawking.

Edie and Beck stopped beside me, floating on their boards in my periphery.

“This one’s taken by Emery Wallace,” Edie had warned. Thief.

“This one’s the hottest masterpiece in town.” Beck had chuckled. Con.

“More importantly, she only dates rich bastards.” Liar.

I had all the ingredients to pull her in.

Her body was a patch of fresh snow. White, fair, like the sun shone through her, never quite soaking in. Her skin defied nature, her ass defied my sanity, but it was the words on her back that made my logic rebel.

It wasn’t her curves or the way she swayed her hips like a dangling, poisonous apple that warranted my reaction to her.

It was that tattoo I had noticed when she swam close to me earlier, the words trickling down the nape of her neck and back in a straight arrow.

My Whole Life Has Been Pledged to This Meeting with You

Pushkin.

I only knew one person who went gaga over the Russian poet, and, like the famous Alexander, he was currently six feet under.

My friends began to paddle back to shore. I couldn’t move. It felt like my balls were ten tons heavy. I didn’t believe in love at first sight. Lust, maybe, but even that wasn’t the word I was looking for. No. This girl fucking intrigued me.

“What’s her name?” I snatched Beck’s ankle, yanking him back to me. Edie stopped pedaling and looked back, her gaze ping-ponging between us.

“Doesn’t matter, bro.”

“What’s. Her. Name?” I repeated through a locked jaw.

“Dude, she’s, like, way young.”

“I will not repeat myself a third time.”

Beck’s throat bobbed with a swallow. He knew damn well that I didn’t mess around. If she was legal—it was on.

“Jesse Carter.”

Jesse Carter was going to be mine before she even knew me.

Before I even knew her.

Before her life turned upside down and her fate rewrote itself with her blood.

So here was the truth that even my lying ass wouldn’t admit later on in our story—I wanted her before.

Before she became business.

Before the truth caged her in.

Before the secrets gushed out.

I never did get to surf that day.

My surfboard broke.

Should have known it was an omen.

My heart was going to be next in line.

And for a small chick, she did one hell of a fucking job obliterating it.

Title: Birds of Paradise

Author: Anne Malcom

About Birds of Paradise:

I was trapped in the house with a man that had meant to kill me. Might very well still mean to kill me. But not by locked doors, force, or ropes or chains. Not physical ones at least. The man who very well might kill me gave me the impression that he wanted nothing more than for me to walk out that door.

I was not his captive.

I was my own.

I could very well die here. If there was anything left worth killing.

If there was anything left in me that wanted to live.

He collected dead things, after all. And with every day that passed, I found myself wanting to stay, even if that meant I was part of his collection of dead things.

Especially if I was part of collection.

Reviews:

Right from the very beginning the intensity of the story grabs your attention! Once again I did not want to put another book by this author down … unfortunately for me, my family likes to eat..go figure!

Elizabeth is broken, thoroughly and utterly and really she has been for most of her life. I can’t say too much for fear of giving too much away and that I definitely will not do. However I will say this is almost the story of her rebirth and growth, finally getting to know herself better, her needs and wants.

The characters in this book are so intense and have many layers, gradually each layer is peeled away to expose more. It’s an exciting process yet scary at times too. Where Elizabeth is definitely shattered and the pieces too small to piece back fully together, you realise that it’s okay and accept her for who she is not who you’d like her to be.

This is not your average book, it explores some mental illnesses, how our past can shape us and it depicts how prisons can come in many different forms. At times the story is overwhelming and you find yourself having to sit back and think about things. It also tests your limits with regard to patience…I really wanted to do some damage to some characters and I’m not a violent person!

The author, Anne Malcom, says it was a hard book to write and I can well and understand that however it is very cleverly written and I take my hat off to her skills.

Reviewed by Robyn

This was a very dark and disturbing story… but it was also hauntingly beautiful as well. A broken shell of a lady was Elizabeth, especially after her family abandoned her to a life in hell with a husband who took violence and cowardice to a whole new level… Lukyan the monster, the collector of dead and beautiful things rips her from her safe haven and puts her straight back into hell… but by doing so, she finds the fire within herself and with Lukyan’s help she is brought back from the brink and uses her monster to live again. Anne brings this dark story to life in a masterful way, she delves into a battered woman’s psyche and uses a monster to put her back together and with this, she delivers a very powerful novel.

Exclusive Excerpt:

“Is it done?” the disembodied voice on the phone asked.

He slammed the door to his house, surprising himself with the violence behind it. He was a violent man by profession, by necessity. Not by nature.

“It’s done,” he lied. Another necessity in his profession, lies. They, like blood and bullets, were his bread and butter. Though he only lied to targets. Or people he had to go through to get to targets. It was as easy as killing at this point. And killing was as easy as breathing.

But not to the people who paid him. There was no need to lie to them. It would not be fiscally responsible. It was unnecessary. And dangerous. Especially considering this particular client.

A life of lies was easier to unravel than a life of truth.

That’s why he lived invisible. No truth. As few lies as possible.

But here he was, breaking whatever passed for rules in his life.

For her.

“Good,” the voice said.
He poured himself a vodka.

“The money will be in your account. It’s been a pleasure working with you, Brat.”

He took this as goodbye and then hung up. He didn’t do pleasantries.

Especially not with this particular client.

He had majorly fucked up.

He’d never done that before.

Never.

And now it was because of her. The pathetic, broken and weak woman who was devoid of terror, of self-preservation, of dignity.

He sipped his vodka.

No, not quite devoid of dignity, he thought as he wandered to the black oak door off his personal library. The one hidden away at the end of the house, not the one boasting grandeur and wealth, something the original owners of the estate had been overtly preoccupied with.

There had been a quiet dignity about her. In her acceptance of her death.

He walked through the room, opening the door hidden in the bookcases. The light went on, dimly illuminating the frames that cluttered the intimate space.

He made his way to his favorite specimen, running his fingers over the glass thoughtfully.

She wasn’t beautiful. No, something stopped her from being simply beautiful. Her dull hair, sallow skin, dry lips. The lingering scent of death and sorrow that followed her. That was attached to her. That had whittled her down to the nerve, making her almost painful to look at. But her eyes, violent against her gray skin. They kept him from finishing her.

Was that what stopped him from completing it? That painful gaze?

He inspected the creature beyond the glass.

Or was it because he’d found something to add to his collection? Something rare? Something that likely didn’t exist in high numbers in this world?

He didn’t quite know what she was, but she was somehow unique.

He might yet kill her. It would be the sensible thing to do, before word got around to the right ears.

It would be smart to do so.

He sauntered to the leather chair in the middle of the room.

“Yes, it would be smart,” he muttered to himself, glancing at the dead things on his wall, imagining her completing the room with her frozen and trapped beauty.

He wasn’t done with her, that was for sure. He couldn’t be, even if he wanted to be. She was a complication. A loose end. He didn’t do loose ends. Or complications.

Her death would be simpler.

Donna’s Review of Tequila Haze by Melissa Toppen

by Melissa Toppen
IT’S LIVE!

It was destiny– the night I met Hudson Demasi.
I remember how effortlessly he stole my heart- his dark eyes and quick smile forever etched into my mind. We spent one incredible night together under a haze of tequila- a perfect night. And when I woke the next day, he was gone…
I never expected to see him again. Years passed and with it, life went on. Until one day there he is- standing in front of me like no time has passed at all.
He’s determined to remedy his mistakes. I’m determined to let him try. Because even though I know I should walk away- the urge to feel the burn is just too strong.

Tequila Haze is the first book in the Tequila Duet.

AVAILABLE ON KINDLE UNLIMITED!

I absolutely adored this duet and the second part was great and I got loads of feels from it. I just couldn’t believe how the first part of Tequila Burn played out.  I really can’t say what happens but it would have gone so different, time-wise to sort things out in my world.

Lennon came across as very timid in this book and I really didn’t get that from her character in Tequila Haze and I was puzzled, to say the least. I really loved Hudson and although I wanted to slap him on occasion you just couldn’t help but feel for him in this book. He was on a road that anyone would find hard to deal with.

The supporting characters were brilliant again and I think their added input made this story fuller and stronger. I cried heaps reading the last 20% of this book as I watch the sunrise over London, with a nice cuppa. What a great moment to experience and what a great conclusion to this duet.

These books are a huge recommend from me. I love me a rockstar and a country star just became a huge contender.

Review

Robyn’s Review of Mafia Princess by Bella J

by Bella J
Genres: Romantic Suspense
Title: Mafia Princess
Series: Royal Mafia Series
Author: Bella J.
Genre: Romantic Suspense
Release Date: May 8, 2018
Publisher: Crave Publishing

Rules. I’m starting to think I have the natural talent for breaking them.

I hate rules. Always have. Especially since I had them shoved in my face my entire life.

I didn’t ask to be a Valenti. And I sure as hell didn’t agree to follow all their goddamn rules.

Yet it’s been years since I broke one of my family’s most cardinal laws. It was a mistake—I know that now. But that’s the thing about mistakes. You never know you’re about to make one until it’s too late.

Unfortunately, every transgression, every wrong decision has a way to demand atonement. No matter if it’s hours, days, or years after.

I’m still waiting for my past mistakes to exact payment. It’ll come. I know it will.

But now, while I’m sitting in the interrogation room staring at the sinfully gorgeous Detective Lorik Stone, I can’t help but think about all my family’s rules…

…and how I’m about to break another one.

The ‘blurb” or summary about this book is intriguing and grabbed my interest straight away, the story, however, is the real deal..a total gem.

Detective Lorik Stone is a detective in Boston and has been for the previous four years. His super giant ego helps to get him into quite a few sticky situations, although he is very intelligent, observant and good at his job. Karina Valenti is a reluctant mafia Princess, she is entering her third year as a law student much to her father’s disapproval however she too is intelligent and wants more out of life than to be a part of her father’s ‘business’.

There is an intense sexual attraction between Lorik And Karina, one that is breaking an unwritten rule on both sides…the Mafia and the police do not mix! However they both feel this incredible chemistry that pulls them together like north and south magnets attract, so do they!

The Valenti family and the newer Manfusco family, who arrived in the area four years ago, are at war and this becomes the centre of the story. Things really heat up and the action is intense. Emotions run rampant and to be honest at times I could cheerfully clock a few characters over the head myself!

There is action, there is drama and there is plenty of passion in this fast-paced, easy to read story. But there are also some interesting life lessons that do make you think and realise things are not always black and white, that gray areas are very real and can be enormous.

I will definitely be going back for a taste of this author’s work!

I was a strong woman. Men hardly ever intimidated me, and seducing me was no easy task. But this man? This man had my attention for nothing more than a few minutes, and already my mind was filled with dirty thoughts and wild fantasies.

He stepped up to me, his face inches from mine. I felt his warm breath skid across my cheek, and the sensation stormed straight through my body, settling right between my thighs.

As he leaned closer, the warmth of his breath started to stir an array of sensations all through my body. My heart was now jackhammering against my ribs, my throat feeling like the damn desert.

When he lifted his arm, his gaze never leaving mine, I sucked in a breath. And then he reached behind me, his lips mere inches away, and pushed a button next to my head and said, “Monroe, open the door for Miss Valenti.”

I thought I died. I was dead. I died and collapsed into a giant puddle of pathetic womanhood.

The click of the door sounded behind me, and I was out of there faster than you could say “what the fuck was that?”

As my heels clicked down the hall, my heartbeat slowly returning to normal, I heard a second pair of footsteps behind me.

“You in town long, Miss Valenti?”

I took a deep breath, but I didn’t slow down. “You’re the detective, you tell me.”

“I’m guessing no more than a few weeks?”

“Is that you guessing or saying?”

He fell into step next to me. “I’m going to go with guessing.”

I stopped and turned to face him. “You’re good, Detective, I’ll give you that. But let’s say you’re right—and I’m not saying you are—but if I am the daughter of an Italian-American mafia boss, as you suspect I am, you’ve got real balls summoning me down here and then putting me in a damn interrogation room like a criminal. I’d say that wasn’t a very smart move, Detective.”

He studied my face, and I didn’t even blink. Heck, I didn’t even breathe.

“Are you threatening me, Karina?” Lord help me, but the way my name rolled off his lips was like eroticism on fucking steroids. It was like porn to my ears.

I took a step back and tried to ignore the tingles spreading through my bones like wildfire, and I squared my shoulders.

“Not at all.” I lifted my voice a single octave. “I’m merely stating that if what you said was true, you just made one hell of a rookie mistake.”

With my words hanging in the air like the threat it was meant to be, I turned on my heel and sashayed my curvy ass out of there. I could feel his eyes on me the entire time, until I exited the building.

The moment I stepped outside, I took a deep breath, letting the fresh air fill my lungs. The feeling that scratched against every bone in my body was too damn familiar. I’d experienced this before, the feeling of a man being able to electrify my body without even touching me. It was unnerving, yet exciting at the same time. But I learned the hard way that this feeling was also powerful enough to bring me to my knees. I promised myself I would never let a man affect me like that again. Too much was at stake, and I already had too many regrets because I gave in to that temptation once.

But, by God, my body felt like it was on fire just having Detective Stone’s eyes on me. He wasn’t even touching me, or close to touching me, for that matter. There was sweat running down my back, for God’s sake. That was how he managed to affect me within less than twenty-five minutes.

It was the eyes. It had to be those dark goddamn eyes. Devil eyes, that was what they were. Dark windows into the demonic world where he could make you offer up sweet, innocent little puppies with a single glance. Damn, I was pretty sure he would make you want to toss in a tiny kitten as well, just for good measure.

I exhaled and looked up to the sky. Was this the universe’s way of playing one sick joke on me, showing me no matter how hard I tried to put the past behind me, there was no way of escaping who I was? A woman drawn to the forbidden, charmed by the prospects of breaking rules, and resisting authority by walking on the edge?

No. Not again. Never.

Even as his heart yearns for her.
Cami is determined to make him realize that he is worthy of being loved.
He pushes her away at every turn, yet finds himself unable to keep her at arm’s length.
Who will win this battle of love?

Review

Aiden is the second book in this series of books however you can read it as a standalone but where is the fun in that, I’d suggest you go back and enjoy Bentley then this book.

BAM is the business owned primarily by Bentley but also by Aiden and Maddox and run by the three of them. Each brings their own skill set into the company as well as being extremely close friends. Aiden has a dark past that has him reluctant to get close to anyone else even Cami, someone he admires and is physically attracted to. This is their story.

The chemistry between the two main characters is very hot and passionate, together they are a powerful couple but this also scares Aiden into backing off. Cami knows when it’s time to call quits, even when she is heartbroken.

This is a fast-paced story with quite a lot happening however it isn’t mind-blowing or too much. It’s an easy story to read and one that makes you feel good, the characters are easy to relate to and I especially love Emmy’s need to use coupons…when she lives with a very wealthy man. 😂 The descriptions of the characters, settings and scenes make it easy to visualise the story.

I thoroughly recommend this book to everyone.
