The Prospect and the
President’s daughter finally get their HEA…..
Remington “Remy” Sawyer

For most of my life I’ve been the person who lived with the hand he was dealt.
Not much in my life have I had a say in. Birthed by parents I don’t talk to, I
was raised by the only person who ever cared for me – my brother, Cash. Under
his guidance, I’ve become the person I am today.

Productive member of society, and patched brother in the Heaven Hill MC.

I don’t want for anything, other than Tatum Walker.

We had a shot, and we both screwed it up……massively.

Tatum “Tate” Walker

Being the daughter of the President of the Heaven Hill MC is a burden, but one
I’ll face every day with pride. It’s hard for me to know what people like me
for. Is it my personality, my looks, or are they trying to get close to the
Club? There’s one person I’ve never doubted.

Remington Sawyer.

A year ago we had one night of almost passion – that ended with me walking away
in tears – and him walking away in anger.

Some time away from each other has given us perspective.
Now, instead of the storm of chaos that was our one attempt at a relationship,
we’re both ready for calm.

And nothing, they say, is as calm – as the eye of a Hurricane.

Review

The second Heaven Hills MC generation starts with this book where Tatum and Remy try to sort out their friendship and whether or not their relationship goes deeper.

This is a moderately paced book with a light, easy to read feel about it. The old characters are still in this story, however, the younger generation is the focus, not just for Remington and Tatum.

Tatum is a feisty, sassy young woman who is starting to mature. Remy is in his late twenties and is still struggling with some past demons, he is also a quiet achiever. Both characters are likeable and entertaining. Abbie, as a secondary character, holds promise for a future book…I hope. She balances Tatum in their friendship and is an honest, down to earth person with a secret she’s keeping mum about!

There are a little intrigue and suspense, especially towards the end, however, a bit more would have made the storyline meatier, something to really get involved in other than the lead characters unsettled relationship.

A sweet love story that leaves you feeling good.

Review

Lachlan Mount is one sexy, dark badass kingpin of the underworld… he’s a man you don’t want on your radar; feisty family business owner Keira Kilgore found that out the hard way!! Their chemistry is red hot, albeit very dangerous for Keira as he gets into her head and manipulates her body and mind far beyond her control… this book was as intriguing as it was funny; the inner monologue of Keira as she navigated her life with the ruthless Lachlan Mount in it kept me highly entertained from the first page until the surprising ending! I cannot wait to see how this saga continues; I’m looking forward to seeing how far Meghan will push this fabulous storyline.

Review
Omg! Where do I begin with this review. I am still a muddled mess of emotions and it’s been hours since I finished reading this amazing second chance love story. When I first started this book I thought it would be the typical stripper book, like a Magic Mike-esk story but what I got was so much more and believe me when I say you won’t be disappointed when you start this great book.

The characters are both broken in their own way and when they find each other again the story just takes off. The surprises, twists and turns with the characters and the story are just mind-blowing. Ryan isn’t what I expected him to be like and the way he loves is just beautiful. He has strong feelings for Alana and the feeling is very mutual. But enough about all that, the story will unfold for you and will have to get all the surprises I got. It’s what made this book so great.

This book is a huge recommend from me and I definitely recommend all that this author has to offer. She has become one of my favourite authors and I would have no problem one clicking without even thinking about it.

They call him The Mute for a reason.

Hard, cold and calculated, he rarely speaks.

When he does, it’s with disdain.

When he does, his words aren’t meant for me.

When he does, my stomach flips and my world tilts on its axis.

He is thirty-three.

I am eighteen.

He’s a single dad and my father’s business partner.

I’m just a kid to him and his enemy’s daughter.

He’s emotionally unavailable.

And I am…feeling. Feeling things I shouldn’t feel for him.

Trent Rexroth is going to break my heart. The writing isn’t just on the wall, it’s inked on my soul.

And yet, I can’t stay away.

A scandal is the last thing my family needs. But a scandal is what we’re going to give them.

And oh, what a beautiful chaos it will be.

Review:

Wow!!! What a cracking book this one turned into, I was unsure just what and how I would feel about this story but I can’t honestly say it wasn’t and isn’t how I currently feel. I feel like I have been put through the ringer with this book. I will say I wasn’t expecting The Mute to be quite that much of an arsehole but he was almost as bad as Vicious and that man has it in spades.

This book is very clever and the way story unfolds gives a lot of “Oh I See” moments and you then realise the extent that the plotting took. The characters are brilliant and Edie was just brilliant. She was tough but she has no choice but to be just that. Edie took on Trent like a warrior. She took alot on to protect what was hers, she also captures him with the way she is with Luna, she treats her normal and gives her encouragement and love, in doing this she stole Trents heart and mind in the process.

This book is a huge recommend for me and the series is just spectacular. Who wouldn’t and doesn’t like the Hotholes and the people that are drawn to them. ENJOY!!

Excerpt:

Trent’s gaze cut to mine and stopped when his grays met my blues. The fading noise of Vicious barking at people to move along, and my father finally letting go of my arm to move toward Jaime and Dean—probably trying to gain both allies and sympathy—died down.

“I don’t like you,” Rexroth whispered under his breath, his voice harsh.

“I never asked you to.” I shrugged.

“You won’t be working here.” His arm brushed my shoulder, but I didn’t think it was by accident. I let loose a sugary smile, scanning his face and torso for no other reason other than to taunt him. “Good, you’ll be doing me a favor. My father is the one forcing me to work here. He’s pissed I turned down five Ivy League colleges. Remind me, Mr. Rexroth—which top tier university did you attend for your degree?”

The low blow was supposed to retrieve some of my lost dignity, but bile burned my throat, shotgunned from my stomach. Trent Rexroth was known in Todos Santos as an exhilarating success story, rising from the gutters of San Diego. He went to a shitty state college that accepted even the illiterate, working as a janitor on campus after hours. Those were given facts he’d recited himself in an interview for Forbes.

Had I really just tried to make him feel less worthy because he wasn’t born with a silver spoon in his mouth? It made me sicker than wearing my mother’s designer garbs.

Trent smiled, leaning into my body, into my soul. His smirk was more frightening than any scowl, frown, or grimace I’d ever seen. It threatened to tear me apart and sew me back together however he pleased.

“Edie.” His lips were dangerously close to my ear. A delicious shiver moved down my spine. Something warm rolled inside of me, begging to unknot and flower into an orgasm. What was happening, and why the hell was it happening? “If you know what’s best for you, you will turn around and leave right now.”

I elevated my head to meet his gaze and showed him my version of a grin. I was born and raised in a world of intimidating rich men, and I’d be damned if I go down like my mother—addicted to xanax, Gucci, and a man who paraded her on his arm for a short, glorious decade before keeping her solely for public appearances.

“I think I’m going to go find my desk now. I’d wish you a good day, Mr. Rexroth, but I think that ship has sailed. You’re a miserable man. Oh, and one for the road.” I fished for a Nature Valley bar in my mother’s purse and plastered it to his hard, muscled chest. My heart slammed into my neck, fluttering like a caged bird.

I hurried after my father as he glided down the vast, golden-hued hallway, not daring to look back. Knowing I’d started a war and arrived unequipped. But I also knew something else that gave me a surfer’s rush—if I could slam the final nail in my employment coffin and make Rexroth vote against me, I’d be off the hook.

I had just the plan for it. All I had to do was act like a brat. Game on.

Our 5 Star Reviews of Nineteen Letters by Jodi Perry

by Jodi Perry
Genres: Contemporary Romance

Title: Nineteen Letters
Author: Jodi Perry
Publisher: Hachette Australia
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: August 29, 2017

Blurb
Nineteen. There’s something about that number; it not only
brought us together, bonding us forever, it also played a hand in tearing us
apart.
The nineteenth of January 1996. I’ll never forget it. It was
the day we met. I was seven and she was six. It was the day she moved in next
door, and the day I developed my first crush on a girl.
Exactly nineteen years later, all my dreams came true when
she became my wife. She was the love of my life. My soul mate. My everything.
The reason I looked forward to waking up every morning.
Then tragedy struck. Nineteen days after we married, she was
in an accident that would change our lives forever. When she woke from her
coma, she had no memory of me, of us, of the love we shared.
I was crushed. She was my air, and without her I couldn’t
breathe.
The sparkle that once glistened her eyes when she looked at
me was gone. To her, now, I was a stranger. I had not only lost my wife, I had
lost my best friend.
But I refused to let this tragedy be the end of us. That’s
when I started to write her letters, stories of our life. Of when we met. About
the happier times, and everything we had experienced together.
What we had was far too beautiful to be forgotten.

Reviews

This could possible be the most beautiful book I have ever read. And to say that is a real hard thing for me. I don’t always please easy but this book is everything that you could possible ask for in a romance book. I have read other books by this author under JL Perry but this is although very similar it’s very different.

I was swept away in a beautifully written story that spans more than 20 years and to say it made me smile is under estimating it completely. The love that spilled from these pages was just amazing. The passion in the letters and the way the characters were made this book really special. It wasn’t an instant fix at all after Jem had her accident and the patience that Braxton shows is much more than I think I would have shown on occasions.

Jemma was very lost through this book and I really don’t know how or if I would ever be able to cope with such a feeling. The loneliness that she feels in this book is sad and I cried alot for Jem but in saying that I felt the same for Brax. He was lost too amd alone the world when his bestfriend, wife and the love of his life, no longer knew who he was. He couldn’t touch her or say anything really and that broke my heart into a million pieces. She was there but no longer his.

The supporting cast and the background stories really effected me as well and I feel they made this book stronger for it. You get to learn about back stories and how things were when they went through life together. This book is a huge recommend from me. It is definitely a contender for one of my books of the year. Don’t wait to read this book, Just do it.

Wow! This book really did blow me away… I didn’t want the beauty to end. It was heartfelt and so movin when you have a love as true and rare as Braxton and Jemma did it is one that can never be forgotten! I laughed and I cried… there were tears of sadness, joy, hope and happiness all throughout this book. I have to say that this story is now one of my most favourite reads of all time and one that I will go back to time and time again!

Excerpt

CHAPTER ONE
Jemma
It’s a wet
and dreary morning is the first thing I hear when the radio booms to life,
alerting me to the fact it’s time to get up.
Dreary
doesn’t even come close. The thought of no longer being able to spend every
waking minute with my gorgeous husband has already put a dampener on my day. I
can’t believe our time off together has come to an end. I hate that I have to
go back to work this morning, and leave the little bubble Braxton and I have
been living in for the past four weeks.
Right up
until the wedding, things were so busy with our careers, building our dream
house and organising our special day. Everything combined seemed to take away
from us being together. This one-on-one time we’ve had since tying the knot was
just what we both needed.
‘Morning,
Mrs Spencer.’
He rolls
onto his side, pulling me further into his warm, luscious body. It has been
exactly nineteen days since we exchanged wedding vows, and I’m still floating.
‘Morning,
Mr Spencer.’ I lean my forehead against his. ‘I’m not ready to go back to work.
I can’t stand the thought of spending the entire day without you.’
He chuckles
as his teeth nip at my pouting lip. ‘I feel exactly the same way, babe. Our
time off has gone way too quick. We should have taken two months off, instead
of one.’
Despite him
being a constant figure in my daily life, for the past nineteen years, I still
get a rush when I think about what our future together holds.
I met
Braxton when my parents and I moved in next door. We were just kids, but we’ve
been inseparable ever since. He’s my one and only. He always has been, and
always will be. He’s not only the love of my life; he’s my best friend, my soul
mate, my forever boy.
He’s
incredibly dreamy, with his movie-star looks. I run my fingers through his
sandy blond hair as my eyes roam over his perfectly sculpted face; his big blue
eyes pop against his tanned skin. He has a smile that makes my knees weak. His
front tooth turns in ever so slightly, but it takes nothing away from his
Colgate-worthy smile.
When he
realises I’m checking him out, the sexy grin that I adore appears on his face.
It highlights the cute dimple in his left cheek. To this day, he still manages
to turn my insides to mush, but it’s his inner beauty that affects me the most.
‘I could
always call in sick,’ I say, perking up for a moment, but in reality I know
it’s not possible. I have a big client coming in first thing Monday morning,
and I need to prepare.
‘If I
didn’t have this damn meeting later this morning, I’d say do it,’ he replies,
smiling.
‘I’m going
to miss you.’
‘I’m going
to miss you too, Jem. The past four weeks have been my kind of heaven.’
I sigh.
‘I’d give anything to be back in Kauai right now.’
My fingers
move from his hair and skim down the side of his face as I speak. The beach has
always been our favourite place. That’s why we built our dream home overlooking
the ocean. The soothing sound of the waves crashing against the shore as I
drift off to sleep every night, and the sweet smell of sea air first thing in
the morning . . . it’s cathartic. It’s also one of the reasons we chose
Hawaii—a beautiful villa on the majestic shores of Tunnels Beach—as the place
to spend the first two weeks of our married life.
‘Me too.’
He gives me a wistful look. ‘I’ll take you back there over the Christmas break,
I promise.’
‘I’d like
that.’ My fingertips dance over his collarbone, before moving across his
shoulder. When I run a path down his strong back, he groans.
I sigh
again when I think that Christmas is ten months away, but I guess we have the
rest of our lives together to create the kind of memories we did in Hawaii.
Untangling
my legs from his, I pause briefly. I don’t want to leave him. I exhale a
drawn-out breath. ‘I suppose I better jump in the shower.’
‘Would you
like some company?’
Reaching
for me, he rolls onto his back, taking me with him. I laugh when he wiggles his
eyebrows. I straddle his waist before covering his mouth with mine. My shower
can wait. Making love to my man is much more important.
Sliding
forward, I line myself up. His strong hands grip my hips, and we moan in unison
as I sink down onto him. My eyes lock with his as I slowly rock my body against
him. ‘I love you, Brax.’
‘I love you
too, Jem. So much.’
He reaches
for my hands, lacing his fingers through mine. We’ve always had such a strong
bond, but when we’re connected like this, we become one. I’ll never tire of
these feelings he evokes in me.
There are
times I feel guilty because together, we’re perfect. None of our friends have
the kind of relationship Braxton and I do. What we have is unbreakable.
Sometimes my feelings for him overwhelm me. I’m not sure how either of us would
survive without the other.
As I rush
around putting the finishing touches on my make-up, I catch a glimpse of
Braxton in the mirror. He’s leaning up against the doorframe watching me get
ready. He’s shirtless and wearing a pair of grey sweats that hang low on his
hips. My pulse quickens as my eyes rake over his bare chest, and each delicious
muscle that defines his torso, from the perfect V just above the waistband, right
up to his washboard abs. One of my favourite things to do is watch him work out
on the small home gym he set up in the garage. I don’t think he even realises
how sexy he is. Growing up, he didn’t notice the way all the girls swooned over
him. But I did.
My eyes
move back to his, and the adoring look on his face sends my heart into a
flutter. The sheer love I feel for this man consumes every fibre of my being.
It’s euphoric.
‘How long
have you been standing there?’ I ask as my mouth curves into a smile.
‘I’m just
admiring my beautiful wife.’ I love hearing him call me his wife.
He pushes
off the doorframe and stalks towards me. When his arms encircle my waist, he
pulls me back into him. A soft moan falls from my mouth as his lips trail a
path up my neck. I tilt my head to the side, allowing him better access.
‘I’m
already running late,’ I breathe.
‘I wish you
didn’t have to go.’ His warm breath on my skin leaves goosebumps in its wake.
‘Me
either.’
‘The next
eight hours are going to feel like an eternity.’
I sigh in
agreement. ‘I know.’
His tongue
glides over the sensitive spot behind my ear, sending shivers down my spine. He
did that on purpose. ‘Don’t make any plans for tonight, because I’m taking you
out to dinner.’
‘You’re
taking me out? Where?’
‘The Sea
Shanty.’ He groans as he sucks my earlobe into his mouth.
‘What’s the
special occasion?’
‘Our
anniversary.’
My eyes fly
open to meet his in the mirror. ‘Our what?’ My mind starts to race. What anniversary?
He turns me
in his arms so I’m facing him, and pulls a small black box from his pocket. ‘I
was going to give this to you tonight, but I want you to have it now. Happy
nineteenth anniversary, sweetheart.’
My hands
tremble slightly as I take hold of the box. That’s when I remember that today
we have been married for nineteen days, and a huge smile breaks out on my face.
The number nineteen has always held special significance for us.
Tears of
happiness pool in my eyes as I open the lid. Inside I find a white-gold
necklace that’s holding a diamond-encrusted number-nineteen pendant.
‘Oh
Braxton, it’s beautiful. I love it . . . I love you.’
He smiles
as he tucks a lock of hair behind my ear. ‘I can’t wait to spend the rest of my
life with you, Jem.’
‘Same.’
A lump
forms in my throat and I feel like I’m choking back tears. I use my hand to fan
my eyes; I don’t have time to redo my make-up.
Taking the
box out of my hand, he removes the necklace. ‘Turn around, and hold up your
hair.’ I do as he asks, gathering my long brown hair on top of my head so he can
fasten the necklace. ‘Perfect,’ he says, planting a soft kiss on my skin at the
base of my neck.
My
fingertips glide over the pendant as I admire it in the mirror. ‘Thank you . .
. I’ll treasure it.’
Sliding his
arms around my waist again, he rests his chin on my shoulder, and his eyes meet
mine in the mirror. ‘You know, I’ve been thinking . . .’
‘That could
be dangerous.’
I laugh
when he pokes my side.
‘I want you
to stop taking the pill.’
I feel my
heartbeat accelerate as I swing around to face him. ‘You do?’
‘Yes. It’s
time we gave it another try, Jem. I want to see our baby growing inside you.’
I swipe my
finger under my eye to catch the stray tear that has fallen. ‘I want that too,
but what about my job? We just took out a second mortgage to build this house .
. . we need the money.’
He exhales
before continuing. ‘I know how much your career means to you, but you’re giving
so much of yourself to that bastard, Andrew. We both know he doesn’t appreciate
you. Why don’t you think about setting up your own interior design business
from home? That way you’d be here to look after our son, and still be able to
do what you love.’
‘Or our
daughter,’ I say with a smile.
‘As long as
our baby is healthy, I don’t care what sex it is.’ I bow my head as memories of
that day flood my mind. I want this so badly, but I’m scared.
‘Can we
talk more about it tonight over dinner? Andrew’s going to chew me out if I
don’t get to the office soon.’
‘He better
not!’
I run my
finger over his forehead, trying to flatten out the crinkles of his frown. I
love how protective he is. He hates the way my boss treats me, but he’d never
interfere because he knows how much I love what I do.
The rain
has eased by the time I’m ready to leave, but Braxton still insists on walking
me out so I don’t get wet. ‘Bye,’ I say reluctantly, when we come to a stop
beside my car.
‘Don’t let
Andrew keep you any later than needed.’
‘I won’t,’
I say, placing my lips against his. ‘Good luck with your meeting. They’re going
to love the new design.’
‘I hope so.’
He opens the driver’s-side door, and moves the umbrella closer to shield me
from the rain. ‘Be careful on the roads, they’ll be slippery.’
‘I will.
Stop worrying.’
‘I’ll
always worry where you’re concerned, Jem. It’s my job to look after you.’
I smile up
at him once I’m seated. ‘I love how much you love me.’
‘That’ll
never change,’ he says, winking, as he closes my car door.
My heart
feels heavy as I blow him a kiss and reverse out of the driveway . . . I miss
him already.
I’m driving
cautiously but still faster than usual on my way to work. I know I shouldn’t,
considering the roads are slippery from all the rain, but the backlog of work
I’m going to face from being on holidays for a month is making my stomach knot.
Just the thought of facing Andrew in one of his moods this morning is quickly
undoing all the calm I’ve felt while being away from him. Braxton’s idea of
starting my own business is sounding better by the second.
I smile to
myself as I replay his words in my head. My fingertips lightly skim over my
stomach. I’d like nothing more than to have his baby growing inside me again.
‘Shit,’ I
mumble to myself when the heavens open up. I turn the wiper speed up to full,
but visibility is still poor. I can barely see the car in front of me now. I
jump when my phone starts to ring. I grip the wheel tightly with my right hand
as I reach across the passenger seat, my hand blindly fumbling in my bag as I
try to find it.
I just know
that it’s Andrew wondering where I am; I should have been there fifteen minutes
ago. My chest tightens just thinking about it.
My eyes
leave the road for a split second as I glance down at the screen. I was right,
it’s him. As I attempt to accept the call, I hear the loud sound of an angry
horn, and the screech of tyres. My head snaps to the left as my body is thrown
violently sidewards. The sickening crunching sound of metal is almost
deafening.
Images of
Braxton and our life together flash through my mind as a crushing sensation
consumes the right side of my body. My head connects with the driver’s-side
window, and the sound of shattering glass fills my ears.
Oh god. I don’t want to die.
‘Braxton .
. . Braaaax,’ I cry out as the world around me stills, and I succumb to the
darkness.

Toying with Her by Prescott Lane
Release Date: August 17th
Genre: Contemporary Romance

Toying with Her, an all-new standalone from Prescott Lane is available NOW!!!

toyingwithher

No one said finding love was easy, but when you invented the world’s best selling vibrator, it’s near impossible. Yep, that’s right. That little toy hidden in your bedside table is my brain child. It’s aptly named Woman on Top. And you know what they say . . . it’s lonely at the top.

So I’m headed home to my Southern roots. It’s supposed to be an extended Summer vacation — nothing more. But Rorke Weston has other plans for me. Plans that not only involve me being on top, but also underneath him.

It’s been said you never forget your first. For me, that’s definitely true. No night has ever lived up to the one I spent with Rorke.

He’s turned into quite a man. Tan from the Southern sun, and stubborn as the day is long. And there’s nothing sweeter than the swipe of his tongue.

Rorke wants his chance. The one we never had. But that was a long time ago. When I still believed in Prince Charming and Happily Ever Afters. Even ten years later, I feel a pull. And it’s not simply Rorke yanking down my panties.

Do second chances really happen? Or is my heart simply toying with me?

Excerpt:

I know exactly where I want this kiss to go now. We don’t even have to move from this spot. I can take her right up against the door. My lips hover over hers, her chest rising and falling, my cock hard as a rock and pressed against her stomach. The warmth between her legs calls to me, and I bend my knees, pushing into her. She grinds right back.

“Just a kiss,” I whisper, unsure whether I’m telling myself or her.

We never just had a kiss. We went from kissing to sex in the same breath. And while I want her naked in my bed, I want her for more than one night this time, more than just this summer. I want that more. I’m not going to make it easy for her to dismiss me, dismiss this as a one-night stand or a summer fling.

I’m not going to make it easy for her to leave me. I’m going to make it damn near impossible.

Winding my hand in her long brown hair, I lower my head, letting my breath tickle the skin of her neck. Her body trembling, gently I trail kisses up her neck, letting my tongue linger ever so slightly. She tries turning her head down to me, desperate for my lips, but I grip her hair a little tighter, controlling the moment.

“Rorke,” she begs breathlessly.

I know she’s used to being in control. Hell, the woman is responsible for more orgasms than any man could ever be. Lifting my head to look in her eyes, I say, “I know you’re used to being in control of your pleasure. But that ends right now. When you need an orgasm, I’ll provide it. When you want a kiss, I’m your man. You may be the woman on top, but I’m the man holding you up there.”

Review:

This book was absolutely fantastic. From the characters to the story line it was all completely flawless. With every word that was written you are sucked further and further into this story that builds you up and sweeps you away.

The characters are brilliant together and through young heartache and devastating circumstances they are pulled together for one night. But it’s one night neither forgot. Sterling and Rorke are one of my favourite couples written and the emotions this book evokes was just amazing.

Prescott Lane has become one of my favourite writers, she tackles all kinds of subjects and just makes the stories work, makes them believable, so that you feel that you are there and involved. This book is a huge recommend from me.

P.s we have a Mrs “Quaid” in our lives and I so wish my revenge could be that sweet.

Robyn’s Review of Havoc by Laramie Briscoe

by Laramie Briscoe
Genres: Contemporary Romance

Title: Havoc
Series: Moonshine Task Force #3
Author: Laramie Briscoe
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: August 18, 2017
Blurb
When a marriage of convenience turns into the passion of a
lifetime…
Holden “Havoc” Thompson

My job as the leader of the Moonshine Task Force is my life. I eat, breathe,
and sleep it. The men under my command mean the world to me. Knowing they count
on my guidance has kept my demons at bay for longer than I care to admit.

The control I have over myself is an iron fist that sometimes threatens to
squeeze the life out of me. What I want more than anything is to live again –
let go of the hurt smothering every bit of light I have in this darkness.

I don’t expect it to come in the form of a Moonshiner’s daughter needing my
protection.

Leighton Strather

My whole life has been defined by who my family is. In the state of Alabama,
we’re number one with a target on our backs. The danger and prestige isn’t for
me. I don’t care about the money, and I care too much about the families we’ve
ruined.

My brother and my dad are proud of it. They wear their arrest records like a
badge of honor. Me? I want as far away from the lifestyle as I can get.

It’s the only reason I ask Holden to marry me. At least that’s
what I tell myself.

I never expect his whispered yes to cause such upheaval in my life. Even though
I resist, I learn some havoc is good – and this one? It’s a whirlwind of lust,
hope, and love and all I can do is let it sweep me away.

Review
This series just gets better and better, I really enjoyed everything about it and continued to learn a little more about moonshine!

Havoc, or Holden as he’s christened, is a thirty-six year old leader in the Moonshine Task Force as well as an officer for his local police department. He has always been fascinated by Leighton, even though she is the daughter and granddaughter of illegal moonshine distillers and sellers. He offers her a chance to escape that world but what the future holds is still uncertain.

Holden is a hot alpha male who I’d gladly like to meet in real life, yummo! He has high morals and a code of ethics he lives by that enables him to be the leader he is at work and with friends.

Leighton has such a big heart, it’s a wonder she turned out as well…ah I love fiction! However, it does mimic real life and there are some awful ‘real life’ moments that really make you sit up and take notice in this tale. You can’t help but become invested in the emotions throughout the book.

This fast paced story is super easy to read but my only complaint is I finished it! Bring on book 4!

Review

Another great series by this author, going on this book!

This really is a sweet romance but the elements of ‘real life’ are there in abundance which makes it easy to relate to as a reader.

Whitney is a thirty-five-year-old woman who is now divorced and out of a depressing marriage. She is more than comfortable with Renegade, her younger brother’s best friend when she hooks up with him for a night and they both give in to their desires.

Really I can’t say too much else or I’ll give it away! 😉 The book is believable because there is no magic wand to make everything alright, the characters have everyday jobs and do everyday things. They occasionally surprise you with a little tidbit about their past and it endears you even more to them.

This is a smooth flowing story that is easy to read. The emotions the characters feel you, the reader, experience too. I enjoyed the humour balancing things out just as much as the hot, passionate bedroom scenes too.

If you are looking for a love story that makes you feel fabulous, then this is it!

“Behind those eyes, a battle rages. One that’s not fought
overseas with guns and tanks, but one that wreaks havoc in the homeland with
harshly spoken words and misguided beliefs.”
One week is all we were supposed to share. One week as
strangers. Yet you became so much more.
You were the echo in my storm.
All the little things you did differently irked me. I
thought it meant we couldn’t get along, that there was no chance we’d work out.
But when it came time for me to leave, you know what I figured out?
They were the faint call of home, lost on the wind and the
roar of thunder. It was you calling me, hoping I’d hear you and find my way out
of the dark that I had lost myself in when I shut off to survive.
You were my echo. My call back.
And fuck it all if I didn’t find home in the end.

Excerpt
ECHOES IN THE STORM
Chapter One
Eleven hours in the office, and this is what I have to come
home to. I close my eyes and focus on my breathing, trapped in the naïve
thought that maybe, just maybe, if I wish him away hard enough, it could truly
happen.
Nope. Still there.
Blondie belts a tune out on my car radio, the beat going
some way toward helping me find my zen. Three years on, and the sheer sight of
him still pisses me off the same as it did when he told me “I don’t think I
could ever love you again.”
Yeah. Because loving me meant accepting the fact it wasn’t
my fault, and he refuses to believe that.
I refuse to believe that.
Drawing a deep breath, I reach for the door handle and
promptly cut Blondie off mid-sentence as the crisp evening air rushes into my
safe haven. With my leather tote snatched in my other hand, I rise and plaster
on as natural of a smile as I can manage when my back aches and my feet throb
from overuse.
“Eight months, Jared.”
My ex leans a shoulder against the side of the house, tucked
under the veranda as though he had hoped to blend into the shadows and catch me
by surprise.
“And yet, it hasn’t dulled your attitude any.”
“What do you want?” I shut and lock the car, pining for that
first dip in a hot bath.
“You ignored my calls.” He frowns as I walk right by him.
“Did you think I’d be that easy to brush off?”
“Hardly.” There was a reason he used to be saved in my phone
under ‘Cockroach’. “I’ve been busy.”
“You’re not the only one,” he bites, inviting himself into
the house behind me. “But then again, you never did understand that concept,
did you?”
“Carry on, Jared,” I snap louder than intended. “See how
long this wee conversation lasts if that’s the way you’re going to steer it.”
He pinches the bridge of his nose and sighs. “I’ll make it
quick.” For a fleeting second, I see the vulnerable man I fell in love with ten
years ago. “I want you to sell the house.”
Until that.
“What?” I throw my tote on the side table with more zest
than necessary.
We were married for barely two years, not enough time for
the property to have increased substantially in value. So it was decided when
we split that I’d stay in it, paying the mortgage on my own, and the little
that he had put in over the course of our relationship would be repaid when I
sold.
When I sold.
“If you need the cash—”
“I need an end to this.” He waves a hand between us as I
slump against the hallway wall. “I need to cut ties from you, Cam.”
“I thought we were doing that just fine,” I whisper as I run
my eye over his carefully put together outfit.
Fuck, he unfriended me on Facebook the minute he split. I
don’t even know where he lives now, just that it’s in the city, and judging by
the threads he’s got on he’s doing well for himself.
Of course, he doesn’t need the money. He’s never needed
anything from me. Makes sense then, that he wants me to sell to ensure he has
no reason ever to see me, let alone talk to me, again.
“If you want closure, Jared, I can get my lawyer to send
yours the settlement amount when and if I sell in the future. You don’t have to
deal with me.”
He shrugs. “Except I would. You’d still be there in the back
of my mind every time I have to list assets, Cam. Or if Kell and I want to
apply for another mortgage—it’s still in my name, too.”
“So we change it.” I push aside the reference he made to the
whore who stole him away. “Make a time at the bank, and I’ll meet you there.”
Silence hangs thick, choking the air in the house—the very
reason for this conversation. I push off the wall with the flat of my hand and
take a couple of steps toward the lounge room.
“How long?”
He hangs in the entrance hall. “As soon as we can agree on a
realtor.”
“No.” I drop to the edge of the armchair, bracing myself
with both hands on the cushion. “You’ve got to give me longer.”
“Why, Cam?” He ventures as far as the open doorway, ever
reluctant to get too close to me. “You’ve had three years to get what you need
out of being here. Staying in the house won’t change anything.”
“Exactly,” I whisper.
I never stayed in the hope it would settle the past, or that
the memories the house held could ever ease the pain. I didn’t stay to heal. I
stayed to keep the wound open and festering, to never forget.
I chose to remain in the home we shared so I would be
reminded every day of what I did and why I don’t ever deserve to have that kind
of love again.
“You need to move on,” Jared murmurs as he retraces his
steps toward the door. “It’s not healthy, Cam.”
“I know.”
He twists the handle and opens the front door a fraction,
resting his shoulder against the edge as he drives the nail home a little
harder.
“You need to own up to what you did.”
