I hate rules. Always have. Especially since I had them shoved in my face my entire life.
I didn’t ask to be a Valenti. And I sure as hell didn’t agree to follow all their goddamn rules.
Yet it’s been years since I broke one of my family’s most cardinal laws. It was a mistake—I know that now. But that’s the thing about mistakes. You never know you’re about to make one until it’s too late.
Unfortunately, every transgression, every wrong decision has a way to demand atonement. No matter if it’s hours, days, or years after.
I’m still waiting for my past mistakes to exact payment. It’ll come. I know it will.
But now, while I’m sitting in the interrogation room staring at the sinfully gorgeous Detective Lorik Stone, I can’t help but think about all my family’s rules…
…and how I’m about to break another one.
Detective Lorik Stone is a detective in Boston and has been for the previous four years. His super giant ego helps to get him into quite a few sticky situations, although he is very intelligent, observant and good at his job. Karina Valenti is a reluctant mafia Princess, she is entering her third year as a law student much to her father’s disapproval however she too is intelligent and wants more out of life than to be a part of her father’s ‘business’.
There is an intense sexual attraction between Lorik And Karina, one that is breaking an unwritten rule on both sides…the Mafia and the police do not mix! However they both feel this incredible chemistry that pulls them together like north and south magnets attract, so do they!
The Valenti family and the newer Manfusco family, who arrived in the area four years ago, are at war and this becomes the centre of the story. Things really heat up and the action is intense. Emotions run rampant and to be honest at times I could cheerfully clock a few characters over the head myself!
There is action, there is drama and there is plenty of passion in this fast-paced, easy to read story. But there are also some interesting life lessons that do make you think and realise things are not always black and white, that gray areas are very real and can be enormous.
I will definitely be going back for a taste of this author’s work!
