Donna’s Review of Torrid Little Affair by Kendall Ryan

Genres: Contemporary Romance

TLA AmazonThe best way to get over someone is to get under someone else. And I have the perfect candidate all picked out.

My new assistant is tempting beyond belief with her curvy body and take-no-shit attitude. All those luscious curves, and a juicy ass I’m already in love with. God, the things that I would do to that ass…

But it’s the haunted look in her eyes that speaks to me. Like she’s taken just as much shit in her past as I have—maybe more. We both deserve a little fun.

Love can’t fix everything. Mind-blowing sex and a few killer orgasms, on the other hand?

I have a feeling those might do the trick.

Review

I really enjoyed this quick and fast-paced read. I really needed to know what happened and couldn’t put the book down. Although some of the plot lines were a bit obvious it didn’t harm my enjoyment of this great story. The story was a little bit full on but what do you expect when they work and run an escort agency. However, I found myself cheering from the sidelines.

The characters were great and the interaction between them all was brilliant. Cooper was just swoon-worthy and his broken heart made him so appealing. The way he was with Corinne was just so sexy to read. He was so understanding and he made her feel so special. This book is full of heartache, sacrifice and a love that will never stop regardless of the circumstances.

This book is a huge recommendation from me.

Review

I really loved this really quick and spicy Christmas novella. It swept me away and before I knew where I was it was dark out and my tea was cold but I was smiling hugely. The subject can be hard for people to read but I don’t see that with step-siblings, especially that never grew up together until they were old teenagers being a problem at all.

This book really dealt beautifully with two subjects that have the possibility to tear a family to pieces. But when the story builds and Declan and Ollie begin to reconnect it’s great to read. Both hiding things from each other and running from there problems. Talk people, just talk.

I really recommend this beautiful book. It’s one that isn’t pretty all the way through but as I said earlier you just smile huge.

The British Knight, an all-new standalone contemporary romance by Louise Bay is available NOW!!!

The British Knight by Louise Bay
Release Date: December 5th
Genre: Contemporary Romance

When I’m offered the chance to leave New York to live in London for three months, I can’t pack my suitcase fast enough.

As soon as I touch down I’m obsessing over red telephone boxes, palaces and all the black cabs.

But my favorite place is the tube. It’s wall-to-wall hot British men in suits.

When I’m offered a temporary job working for a barrister, I say, sign me up.

On my first commute into work, it’s a total accident when I lose my balance and fall against the most handsome Brit alive. He’s as charming as James Bond and as suave as Mr. Darcy. I want to lick tea from his hard abs and listen to his accent all night long.

Turns out Mr. Handsome is my new boss. And his attitude isn’t as hot as his gorgeous face, broad shoulders and tight ass. He’s brooding, short-tempered and the most arrogant man I’ve ever met.

As we’re fighting, out of nowhere he kisses me. And I’m pretty sure I see fireworks over Big Ben and hear God Save the Queen.

I wasn’t looking for the fairytale but I might have found my knight in shining armor. The problem is he lives an ocean away.

A stand-alone, contemporary romance.

Excerpt:

Alexander

My workout this morning had been punishing. The harder I worked, the harder I worked out. I was a big believer in that if I wasn’t physically fit, I couldn’t perform as well in my job. And I was willing to do whatever I had to do to be the best barrister I could be. As a result, I’d been up since five, worked out until six thirty, and then had a conference call with Dubai at seven. I hated days when I was late into the office, but this morning couldn’t be helped. My commute had been . . . unusual. The woman I’d knocked into while getting off the tube had been beautiful, and I couldn’t keep the image of her gazing up at me in the middle of Lincoln’s Inn Fields out of my brain. I needed to focus. And perhaps get laid when I got the time. But it wouldn’t be tonight. I’d be working. I had hundreds of witness statements to go through and my opening statement to draft.

In three days, I’d be in court, and that was my sole focus. There was no time to be wasted on fantasizing about women.

As I trawled through my emails, trying to pick out the important ones from the hundreds littering my inbox, someone knocked at my door. I resisted the temptation to growl. I hated being interrupted—I needed a sign for the door.

“Come in,” I barked.

The door swung open, and I could tell by the footsteps that the head clerk had swooped in. “Mr. Knightley.”

“Craig.” I didn’t take my focus off my laptop screen. Craig was an avuncular and charming man in his mid-fifties. He’d been in the business since he was fifteen and had clerked my father. If anyone could interrupt me, he could. And he knew it. Over the years, I’d tried to get him to call me Alex, but he insisted all the clerks and admin staff call the barristers by their surnames. The bar could be a very old-fashioned place.

“I want to introduce you to your new assistant, Violet King.”

I paused, my fingers hovering over my keyboard. I knew nothing of this and would never have agreed to it—I worked alone. Slowly, I turned to find Craig in front of my desk, his eyebrows raised in expectation.

“My what?” I asked. A figure moved in beside him and I slid my gaze to the right. I found myself staring straight at the beautiful woman who’d invaded my thoughts since I’d arrived in chambers. What was going on? I looked away from her, sure that Craig would see my attraction to her if my eyes lingered over her for more than a split second.

Review

What an Incredible book. I don’t think I have read a book quite like this from Louise Bay. Not since I read The Empire State Series, where I fell in love with Ethan and Anna. This book is pretty much a roller coaster of emotions from the beginning to the end and I found that every chance I got I read a little, be it a chapter or paragraph. And i went on a huge 3 am sob fest that left me reeling and wanting to grab the Gin.

Alex and Violet are honestly two of the best characters, that I have read for sometime and especially when I found myself swept up in their story. Alex was a hard, arrogant arsehole that took no prisoners and was a shallow man that was completely career orientated. Leaving him alone in the world and he liked his world like that until, Violet. Violet was a bright, beautifully sexy, take no nonsense from anyone, fully of sass woman. She’s planned for nothing, well she didn’t anymore. Violet was scared to plan, to love, to commit and to trust, Until Alex.

To say this story is full of knowledge, fun, laughter and heartache is an understatement, but seeing both parties effected equalling was what made me cry so, so much. They breathed life into each other and made so much difference to the other persons life.

This book is a book that I would highly recommend, it’s a very beautiful story that just carries you away into a world that anyone would be glad to be a part of. Louise Bay is one of my favourite authors. Her ability to be diverse is refreshing, she has a funny wittiness about her writing that in the end just leaves you smiling.

opened his eyes and saw me.

By the time the sun rose, I’d lost him again, my heart shattering on his
parting words: “It was a mistake.” So I ran. Ran until I was thousands of miles
away, in a country I didn’t know, surrounded by people who only made me miss
him more.

I never expected him to follow me … or to pry more secrets from my soul. In
exchange, he gave me more of his secrets too.

The more he let me into his heart, the more I loved him, but I’m afraid that
some secrets may be too big to overcome.

Review

Let me begin by saying that I loved the style of writing and the way the story went along but to me, the story didn’t really have that much to it. Apart from the secrets that were kept and the sad incident at the beginning, I felt the book was a little flat and didn’t really go in any particular direction. I know what it means to hold a secret from the world. I hid one for years but even knowing that I still didn’t get excited at all.

The characters were great in this book and I could relate to the 2 main ones. They were very normal nothing flamboyant. Like us, all with there own set of problems.
Although I didn’t completely love this book I would still recommend it. As someone may just love it.

I was going
to throw up from the nerves.
No, I told myself. No throwing up. Not
when you’re expecting Sam to come into your room any second.
But the
feeling was so strong. I popped a mint from my bedside table in my mouth, rolled
it around my tongue a few times, but the urge was still there.
Oh, shit.
Was this a mistake? Was inviting Sam into my room a big fat problem? I was
leaving for America tomorrow.
The printed
itinerary, neatly stacked on my chest of drawers laughed at me. What was I
going to do? I couldn’t let Sam come up here.
My hands
fisted in my hair as I berated myself for telling him to come. What was I
thinking? I wasn’t some sexual nymph, skilled in the way Sam surely was. I
wasn’t a virgin, but I hadn’t actually messed around with a bunch of guys.
I didn’t
know what to do.
I walked to
the door, pressed my palm flat to it. I’d lock it. Then he couldn’t come in.
He’d walk away, and we’d forget this ever happened.
Look how well that happened the last time you
kissed him,
my
memory taunted me. Three years later, and
you’re still wondering ‘what if.’
There was
no reasonable escape from this situation. And, if there was, there was no
escape that would make me not obsess over the ‘what if.’
It’d be
okay, I told myself. Of course it would. Sex was nothing, right?
But I
didn’t even believe my own thoughts. My nerves battled with my own desire. I
couldn’t process a single thing.
I ran my
fingers over my eyebrows or, what was left of them that wasn’t colored in, at
least. I’d pulled so many out in the days leading up to the trip, needing some
control over this impending trip.
I trailed
my fingers to the sides of my face, tugging on my earlobes to ground me, and
then, in tandem, I pulled out a hair with each hand. The immediate relief was
nearly as intoxicating as the alcohol I’d consume in how it numbed my fears.
It would be
okay.
I took in a
cleansing breath, looking around my room for anything potentially embarrassing.
The blinds
were open, so I closed them, leaving my room in soft, muted grays aside from
the yellow lamp that lit up my dressing table.
My hand was
on the back of the lamp to turn it off when my door creaked open.
Sam stood
in the threshold, nearly taking up the entire space.
I switched
the light off.
It was only
a few loud heartbeats before he said, “Turn it back on.”
I
hesitated.
I couldn’t
see him, but I heard the creak on the floor by the door. “Turn it on, Lotte.”
Swallowing
hard, I did.
The room
was illuminated again in soft light, casting shadows into the angles of Sam’s
face—making him look exactly as he was: dangerous.

OMG how hot was this story! The chemistry between Sera and Ben was off the charts… Ben meets Sera and they spend one hot night together before Sera disappears into thin air! After a job goes wrong Ben finds himself entangled with the mob and his one job is to guard none other than mob princess Sera…and this is where the fun begins!! A fast paced, action packed story that will keep you on the edge of your seat until the very last page… a great read one I would highly recommend to anyone who loves romance with a mafia twist!

This is an amazing hot as hell novella that has you hooked from the off. It’s a fast-paced story, full of action and a sexual chemistry that is off the chart. One that left me wanting more. Who doesn’t like a walk on the wild side and for both characters they sure are doing so.

Sera a mafia princess who loves to defy her daddy and Ben an ex-soldier whom can’t seem to find his place since he left the forces as a promise to his dying mum. Well, that could just be about to change. When their worlds collide for the second time things get intense and the true story begins.

I loved the characters and really want them to have their whole story told in full. But this novella is a must read for someone that loves a great romance with a touch of mafia on the side

Reviewed by Donna

Skyla Madi is such a fabulous storyteller! I love every bit of this book about Ben Campbell and Seraphina Ventilli.

Feisty young female meets experienced older male who has returned from active service after resigning from the military. Unbeknownst to him, Sera carries very heavy baggage that has some memorable results.

The passion between these two is so intense you can almost feel the heat as a physical thing. Their banter brings either a smile to your face or at other times a frown…they are in a very vulnerable situation.

Great descriptions of the characters and scenes help you to easily visualise the story as it unfolds. At times you feel such a part of everything because you can’t help but become absorbed by the storyline.

It’s a fast-paced story that is super easy to read and my only complaint is that it was a novella! I could easily have read more but the author does explain about the size at the beginning.
I enjoyed the full circle concept where the end is similar to the beginning, very cleverly executed.

I totally recommend this to everyone.

This was my first read from the amazing word magician Skyla Madi and definitely will not be my last. She made the character come to life and my girlie bits tingle for the hot bodyguard Ben (swoon)!!! I didn’t want this book to end that is the only bad words I have to say about it!

Don’t we all want to live on the wild side and play with fire! That’s what these two do and they make you want to join the fun. Do yourself a favour and buy this book.

Promise you won’t be disappointed!!!

Boom!!! This is what is happens when you get two great writers collaborating and stepping away from their norm. This book had me hooked from the first words and I didn’t put it down until I had devoured every single word.

As I said Cocky Fiancė is a different kind of book, there is no death and destruction and people don’t actually die, although some deserved to and I was expecting just that to happen. But alas it remained without it and I can honestly say it was brilliant.

Britta was a strong character, full of wit, sass and has 4 brothers that stand strong behind her. And the one person that she falls for is just what she needs but is warned against. Hawk her brothers best friend and her boss to boot. Hawk is sexy, strong and powerful in the boardroom and bedroom. He is a no-nonsense, tell it like it is hottie that will leave you with your tongue hanging out from his dirty talking quips.

This story is really good and the writing is great. You can see that these girls work well together. This book is a huge recommendation from me. It takes you one hell of an emotional journey that leaves you wanting more and more. I shed a few tears but I laughed heaps. A book sure to leave you feeling great by the end.

Zeb—
Family and tradition.
That’s my life.
But now, it’s all going to shit. My baby brother brings home big-city trouble. My sister brings home a big-city firebrand IN big trouble, who turns my world upside down and inside out.
She makes me wish for things I can’t have, but I’ll be damned if I give anybody the power to hurt me like that again.
Besides, I have to focus. Keep the family and tradition alive.
Trouble is, I can’t get away from her scent. The sound of her voice. What the thought of her does to me.

Gabriella—
When a nightmare comes to my life, my best friend rescues me and takes me home to her old-fashioned family.
It’s like stepping into a different world, but her older brother almost makes it better. Then he turns into an arrogant ass of a caveman.
If I didn’t desperately need the help, I would leave.
No, I would not miss the infuriating things Zeb says and does.
Not one bit.
Even if he is hot, in a primitive sort of way.
He confuses me, going from concerned and sweet, to hot, to cold as ice.
I can’t get involved anyway—not with the wounds of the last time literally still healing—and he’s busy trying to hold onto a dying way of life.

Review

Oh, I absolutely loved this book by this fantastic author! I particularly like how he changes up his writing so each book is so different…I think might be my favourite so far!

Zeb and his brothers and sister live in a remote mountain area farming and generally sticking to old fashion methods and morals. Gabriella is a nurse in an extremely busy ER, her fiancé, Carlos, has always treated her well, however, is very suspicious of the extra shifts she is doing at the hospital. Getting away for a bit and going to her best friend’s place (Zeb’s sister) she has time to sort through some things and learn a different lifestyle. Things heat up when unwanted visitors come along and the tension is strong.

Oh, I just adored Zeb, Zack, Zeke & Zipporah, such fabulous characters. Gabriella is also so easy to like and care for straight away. Zangle is the youngest in the family and I have to admit a right royal pain..but Zeb sorts him out…oh and Granny Zip…what a hoot! I couldn’t get enough of these characters. I’m really hoping there will be more books to come with the Z gang!

Terrific descriptions of the characters and their upbringing and lifestyle really build a vivid picture plus the great descriptions of the scenery…I was really hoping the billy goat made another appearance at the end! 😂

A fast-paced story that is super easy to read, it does take you on the emotional roller coaster but it also makes you feel a part of the story.

Review
This is the first book by this author that I have read but I have already looked up more for my wish list!

Jake Castle is the Sergeant at Arms for the Kings MC and a handsome womaniser to boot. Liz is the president’s sister who has come home after completing her nursing degree. They meet and she is warned off by her brother about his playboy lifestyle.

Things really heat up because their chemistry is off the charts. Their relationship doesn’t have an easy start, far from it, but then having people you care about threatened puts a whole new perspective on things.

Clearly described characters and settings make it easy to visualise the story as it progresses. Told by both Jake and Liz’ points of view we gain further insight into these likeable characters. The to and fro in at the start of the relationship was a little drawn out. However the action and passion makes up for it in spades.

The faster pace of the story makes it a super easy book to read and enjoy. Great characters, danger and suspense are the meaty elements of the book. An entertaining read!

Shiloh

Only the good die young. But I’ve never been good.
I’ve lived a life most people only dream about. Famous men,
expensive booze, and the finest drugs money could buy. But every vice has its
price, and living a life of excess has finally dragged me down, forcing me back
to the one place I swore I’d never return.
We met in high school, but we were far from sweethearts. I
ruined his life and then walked away. Losing everything is bad enough, but
crawling back to people who wish you were dead is a nightmare.
Some say absence makes the heart grow fonder.
Not always. You either forgive and forget, or fracture and
finish.
Cary

Seven years ago, Shiloh West was my world. I gave up my
future for her. Then, I spent every waking moment hating her for it. I’ve
followed her train wreck of a career in the tabloids since she drove out of
town with her nose in the air. The woman is toxic.
The fact that a judge has court ordered her back to town
means nothing to me—except maybe the payback I’ve waited a lifetime to collect.
I’m going to build her up and tear her down.
A better man would walk away. I’m not a better man. She
thinks she has the upper hand. Think again, Starshine.
Beauty is only skin deep, but revenge goes straight to the
bone.

Review

Wow! What a story, I can honestly say I loved every single word. It’s the kind of book that you could never say was a lovely and safe love story. It’s a love story but also a brutal, gut-wrenchingly tragic story, spun from a series of events that changes and shapes the lives of so many people. The tears fell with so much heartache whilst I read this book. I was so emotional and so angry in parts too.

Although you wanted to hate Shiloh for her mistakes that cost people so much. You couldn’t help but feel for her and want to take some of the pain away. Shiloh broke Carrick’s heart and destroyed him as a girl but when she returns as a woman she finds a man that she helped shape through circumstance and pain. Cary, the man that is in Carrick’s place wants revenge, payback and he wants to hurt Shiloh.

This is their story. It’s not pretty, far from it but it’s brilliant. It’s so hard to say more about this book without knowingly ruining for everyone. Just go in with eyes wide open. This is a story that I really recommend. This may just be my book of 2017.

Trailer
Excerpt
I rip off
my drenched clothes on my way into the locker room while cursing her name. With
every slam of my fist into the shower tile, I hear a telltale cracking sound,
letting me know I’ve gone too far. Closing my eyes, I brace both palms against
the fractured material as water pelts me from overhead and try to control
myself. I’m in debt enough. I’d be an idiot to willingly destroy property I
can’t afford to repair. Admitting that to myself pisses me off even more,
causing me to want to rip down every piece and smash it against the concrete
floor with my bare hands.
Within
thirty seconds of standing there, my senses go into overload. As usual, I smell
her before I see her. Fucking rain and sunshine. One whiff and my cock stands
at attention, curling into my stomach as if nudging me toward her.
“If
you’re gonna be in here, Starshine, you’re gonna be naked.” I don’t have
to turn around to know she’s scowling. I feel the fury vibrating off her, and
it makes me smile. Choosing to ignore her, I continue to lather myself, making
an unnecessary production of soaping my chest and biceps.
“I—I
should go,” she finally stammers. When she makes no move to leave, I know
I’ve got her.
“What’s
your hurry, sweetheart? You’ve got another half hour on the clock. Leaving
before your assigned time is over and without my signature puts you in breach
of contract.” I glance down, making sure to drag her eyes along with mine.
“And it appears I have no place to hide a pen on me, does it?”
The old
Carrick was self-conscious about his body, hiding it behind layers of
sweltering clothes. However, the new Cary is well aware that hours in the ring
has transformed it. Men grab their women and women grab something to steady
themselves when I’m around. I’m far from shy now and making Shiloh sweat a
little is an added perk of my game.
Besides, I
want her to look. I already know her almond-shaped eyes are glued to my ass,
but I need more. There’s a raging fire in my veins that needs her so enthralled
with me that she forgets to breathe.
“Cary…”
She tries one last time, but I’m done pretending. My name is name barely out of
her mouth when I turn to face her, fighting the smirk that’s dying to betray
me.
As I
expect, her eyes drop then widen as she scans what I have to offer. I fight the
urge to give it a few strokes just to fuck with her.
“You’re
naked,” she says, her voice barely above a whisper.
“Yeah,
see that seems to be the problem here, Shy.”
“Problem?”
“I
told you, we have house rules around here. The first one is that if you’re in
the locker room while someone else is naked and showering, you’d better be
naked and showering too.” I don’t realize I’m moving until she takes a
step backward, her palms shooting out in front of her in battle ready stance.
“I’m
not taking my clothes off, Cary.”
“Fair
enough.” I stalk her like prey, guiding her into a useless half circle
until she realizes too late she’s backed against the chipped blue shower tile.
“I’ll do it for you.”

Nat’s Review of House of Payne: Max by Stacy Gail

by Stacy Gail
Genres: Contemporary Romance, Erotic Romance
Title: House of Payne: Max
Series: House of Payne
Author: Stacy Gail
Genre: Contemporary Erotic Romance
Release Date: October 16, 2017

TRIGGER WARNING: This book contains flashbacks of violence and drug abuse, and the impact of these factors on family members. If you have issues with these elements, this book is not for you.

Chicago’s premiere tattoo studio, House Of Payne, is across the street from the Mad Cow diner, but it might as well be on another planet as far as waitress Paradise Simone is concerned. She’s a good girl from Waukegan with a past she’d rather forget, and a future that goes only as far as the next day. What does she know about superstars and paparazzi?

But Pari does know danger when she sees it, and tattooist Max Kulagin has it written all over him. A proper Waukegan girl should know to steer well clear, but she can’t resist Max when he leaves beautiful, intimate art sketched out on cheap diner napkins.

Beautiful, intimate art…of her.

Max knows ugliness. He was born in it. Raised in it. Had it shoved down his throat every goddamn day. So when he stumbles across true beauty, he worships it. There’s a deep sensuality in the waitress who likes to suck on her pen whenever he’s around, and he’s just the man to bring that beauty out in her. She might be a lady in the street, but one look at Pari tells him she’s going to be a freak in the bed.

And in the shower.

And while he’s driving with her head going to town in his lap.

The life Max leads might be in the spotlight, but it’s Pari who gets caught in the glare. When her past catches up to her, it’s her life that holds all the excitement, and not in a good way. But there’s no force on earth that can take Max’s beautiful Paradise away now that he’s finally found it.

93,000 Words
***This standalone, mildly erotic contemporary romance contains a woman with an oral fixation and a man who’s happy to encourage it. There are multiple sex scenes that include oral sex. No cheating, no love triangles, no cliffhangers. HEA guaranteed. Due to adult language and sexual content, this book is not intended for people under the age of eighteen***

New author to me but when I read the blurb I was like ‘I have to read that book’. I certainly wasn’t disappointed, this story was highly entertaining… it had fiery chemistry between the two lead characters! Max the hot tattoo artist who is totally swoon worthy in his relentless pursuit of Pari the feisty, warm hearted waitress who is running from a tragic past. Fast paced and action packed this book had it all… I need to now go back and read the rest of the House of Payne series.
